In October 2008, the 1000 room Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel will open its doors at the same time that the Phoenix Convention Center completes its expansion from 300,000 to 900,000 square feet.

The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel has been designed to be more than just another big convention hotel. The exterior of the hotel mimics elements of nature to complement the environment and will gracefully modernize the Phoenix Skyline with its translucent cloud-like roof. In addition to modernizing the skyline, the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel will modernize the culinary experience of visitors and residents alike. The hotel will feature a magnificently designed three meal restaurant and lounge that will rival any destination restaurant in the city. On the inside of the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, the elements of nature continue to embrace the guest: stone, wood, warm earth tones, and natural light have been incorporated into all public areas to provide a rich and inviting experience. In the guestrooms the feeling of warmth continues; guests will experience all the comforts of home with rich wood, leather, chrome fixtures, flat panel televisions and the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed.

In 2004 the City of Phoenix selected Starwood Hotels and Resorts to manage this hotel that will forever change the lives of Phoenicians.
