The rental market is alive a booming with a lot, and I reiterate a LOT, of rentals in the downtown area for those not yet ready to purchase. Downtown rentals vastly range in price depending on several key points. Historic area, Property type (Single family home, Condo, guest house) and size. A couple of smoking deals at the moment are a 4th floor studio located in the Landmark on Central tower with great views of downtown for only $700. A 1 bedroom  guest house on 11th Ave and Indian School for $550 and a 2 bedroom 2 bath circa 1929 home with hardwood floors for $825 and that’s just the tip of the Phoenix urban rental iceberg.
Know anyone looking to rent downtown...
Give me a call or email my name is Portland Ramirez and I would be happy to help out!   My cell phone is 623-205-5439 or email me portland@urbanconnectionrealty.com
ps. It’s not uncommon to get settled into a rental that eventual becomes a purchase!

Saturday My ASU daughter was bundled up on my couch at home watching movies. I needed to run by our office on 3rd St and Grant to pick up some paperwork.
I always like to cruise down Grand Ave. to keep an eye on what’s happening. This particular Saturday morning I saw 2 upside-down manican legs firmly planted in the ground in front of Shop Devious- located at 1229 NW Grand Ave. The upsides down legs were wearing legwarmers. Just what my chilly teenager needed! I turned the car around and went in. I love this place! Lots of fun and the leg warmers are only $6.00 plus the proprietor gave me a free sample of body glitter- yeah for me!
The owner told me about a comedy show they have coming up every 2nd Wednesday for the 21 year and older crowd. Doors open at 6 and show starts at 7:00pm This Wednesday the Shop Devious will have a surprise tasty beverage sponsor… (Hint: green hornet)
I’ll be there to check it out with my body glitter on!

Old Willow house.jpg
new willow.jpg

Don’t be sad, the Willow House has closed its doors… but not for good! The new location is 1722 W. Van Buren, so it’s at 17th Ave and Van Buren. The discussions with extending their current lease went in a different direction than local Willow House fans would have wanted. But us seasoned Phoenicians know growth is what we do best so adapting to change is a chocolate vegan cake walk for us. The Willow culture, coffee, and hummus will continue near the capitol building. The classes and meeting will continue also in the new building. Years ago when Willow first opened, who could have foreseen that Downtown staples such as a dive bar extraordinaire - Emerald Lounge, urban western wear - The Boot Barn and Nasser’s own Long Wongs would fade into oblivion only to be reborn as hipster combo PF Chang/Starbucks, gracing the corner of 7th Ave and McDowell. The corner is still alive but now has a more polished feel with lots of extra parking for all of us flocking there now. I am excited to see the new version of the Willow house and looking forward to see what will now occupy the old Willow house on the corner of 5th Ave and McDowell.
