For all you Detroit transplants:  My home town team, the Tigers will be in town to take on the Dbacks the weekend of May 16th for a rare inter-league three game series.  I could only get upper deck tickets for the Saturday and Sunday games.  I wouldn't wait much longer to get tickets if you want to go.

So our Suns playoffs dreams are squashed again, again by the evil aliens, known as Spurs, from planet Hoopenite.  But look on the bright side.  We have a red hot baseball team in town.  Switch the orange to red and come on down.

And I hate how long it takes to drive across Texas, even just the pan handle.  May all the Spurs be forced to drive across Texas and back after they blow their two game lead and lose the series.  Shniffff Shniffff Shnifff.  (I don't believe in curses, but just in case.)

I'll try to refrain myself in the future from posting after every game as if I'm some sort of sports writer but my oh my, these Dbacks sure are playing some nifty baseball.

Did anyone see them shred the Padres again tonight?

The Padres' 6'10'' pitcher, Chris Young held his own against the Dbacks' speedy lead off hitter, Chris Young and his teammates. (Get it? Chris Young vs Chris Young). Dbacks were down three to two after six innings. The Padres' relief did not do as well. Our Chris Young singled off of Padres' reliever, Thatcher to drive in Drew and take the lead in the 7th. The Dbacks' offense exploded again in the eighth and scored six more entertaining but unneeded runs. Final score was ten to three Dbacks.

On a side note, I lived in San Diego, across the street from Petco Park for about a year and a half. I must say it is a beautiful ball park. When I was there, the Padres' pitcher Chris Young lived in my building. I think he really is 6'10''.

I picked up some peanut butter, yogurt, bread, lunch meat, garbage bags, a 357 Magnum revolver, some rounds, a holster and a book on Arizona gun laws. Turns out you can walk into a gun store and walk out 10 minutes later with a hand gun and some ammo. Of course there's a list of requirements. You must be 21 years of age, a US citizen, an Arizona resident, not a convicted felon and pass a quick background check, etc. You can load the gun in your car, stick the gun in your holster, put the holster on your belt and go grocery shopping with the loaded hand cannon on your hip. You're going to get some weird looks if you do this but you won't get arrested. (Assuming that you legally purchased the weapon.) Not sure if this is good or bad but it sure was convenient for me yesterday. I'm not a lawyer so please do your own research on the gun laws. I do know that you must have a permit to conceal it.

Not only did they sweep the Rockies in Colorado, who knocked us out of the play offs last year and made it to the world series, but they came home with brooms in hand and swept the Dodgers, another tough team. This was the home opener series. This was awesome. This was six wins in a row. We could very well have a World Series here in AZ this year folks. I think we have the best team in the NL!

It's two nothing Dbacks in Cincinati - top of the third.  Their home opener is not until Monday Apr 7th against the Dodgers.  See ya there Dbacks fans.

The best happy hour downtown has got to be Coach & Willie's reverse happy hour from 8pm to 10pm M-F.  All of their appetizers, pizzas, draft beer and house wine is half off.  I suggest trying the stuffed Spinach & Garlic Stuffed Mozzarella and a pint of Samuel Adams white ale.  Coach & Willie's is located on 3rd St at the railroad tracks, just south of Jackson St.  For more info:  http://www.coachandwillies.com
