"Phoenix on Mars: the mission, the landing, the latest".  That's the title of Paul Allvin's presentation at Tom's Restaurant & Tavern on Wednesday morning, June 18th, 7:30 AM.  This month's installment of the University of Arizona Educational Breakfast Series will be presented by Allvin, who is the Associate Vice President of University Communications for U of A. 

The presentation is from 7:30 to 8:30 AM with questions following.  The presentation is free, a special breakfast menu is additional.  RSVP to smaddox@email.arizona.edu or 602 827 2007.

June 18. This event will showcase top comedians and comedy troupes from Arizona. The goal of the Experiment is to introduce the Phoenix Metro Area to different types of comedy and to educate the community on what phenomenal talent Arizona has to offer. If you have ever considered going into acting, commercials or comedy; master classes for all types of comedy (including improv, standup, sketch and music) will be held from 3:00pm to 5:30pm (registration is at 2:30pm in the Herberger Lobby), along with workshops covering the business aspects of the entertainment industry from industry leaders, agents and casting directors. A donation of $25 gets access to all of the classes/workshops. The evening will culminate into a virtual smorgasbord of family-oriented comedy with performances from top improv comedy troupes; stand up comedians; sketch comedy groups and more. Scheduled performers include local favorites such as the Jester’Z, The Originals and The Ha Ha’s improvisational comedy troupes and local headlining stand up comics including Travis Thurman, Jon Jesmer, Glenn Vrooman, Ken Kaz and sketch comedy from Tony Vicich’s Comedy School in Scottsdale.

Phoenix residents can learn what the most common legal issues facing homeowner associations are and how federal and state laws impact their ability to govern during a free workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Phoenix City Hall, assembly room A, first floor, 200 W. Washington St.

The workshop is one of a series of seminars sponsored by the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department that focuses on neighborhood improvement.

Future workshops include how to create a neighborhood newsletter, graffiti training and tool lending program and how Phoenix residents can reduce blight and neighborhood preservation ordinance violations.
