Phoenix City Manager Ed Zuercher recently announced the new assignments of several City of Phoenix staff.

Effective November 10, Special Assistant to the City Manager Ginger Spencer has been promoted to Assistant Public Works Director, overseeing the City’s solid waste divisions. With Ginger’s departure from the City Manager’s office, the Office of Arts & Culture will report to Deputy City Manager Lisa Takata. The Equal Opportunity Department will report to Deputy City Manager Deanna Jonovich. The Public Information Office will report directly to Zuercher.

Toni Maccarone will leave the position of Public Information Director to join the executive team, replacing Ginger as the Special Assistant to the City Manager. Toni will be responsible for City Council packet and agenda preparation and planning, Administrative Regulation review, public records request coordination, managing the community and employee opinion surveys, and other important projects. She will also serve as the liaison to the Phoenix Employee Relations Board.

Deputy Aviation Director Deborah Ostreicher will assume the temporary assignment as Public Information Director until a recruitment process can be undertaken and concluded. Deborah also served temporarily in this assignment in 2009.
