Downtown Phoenix Partnership officials are hoping Valley residents and visitors will check out their Web site and participate in an online survey to gauge preferences for a new “way-finding” system downtown.

Dave Roderique, president and CEO of the partnership, said the group is working with the city of Phoenix to set up a system of easy-to-read signs pointing out key amenities, landmarks and features throughout the city’s core.

Leaders are still tweaking the signage and have identified two potential color schemes: one using bright blue and white, the other using purple and gold. They are hoping Web visitors can help them determine the most visually noticeable plan.

“The idea is to put up these signs at key locations throughout the summer to have the system in place by the fall,” Roderique said.

In addition, some of the orange-clad city ambassadors are using handheld devices to survey people downtown, he said.
