Burton Barr Central Library will host an exhibit by artist Randy Slack titled, “Paperless Society,” Sept. 2 - 28 at the library’s @Central Gallery, 1221 N. Central Ave.

A free artist reception will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. The reception is part of Artlink First Friday, a free self-guided tour of downtown Phoenix galleries and art spaces. Refreshments will be served.

“Paperless Society” is an installation environment created with large scale paintings. The exhibit invites viewers to experience a familiar place in a different way.

Slack, a self-taught painter and native Phoenician, creates large-scale paintings incorporating pop culture images such as product labels, advertisements and television icons. His work explores the development of human identity through the connections with family, place and consumerism
