Phoenix Public Library Exhibits “Paperless Society” by Artist Randy Slack
August 23, 2008 by Lyle Plocher commentBurton Barr Central Library will host an exhibit by artist Randy Slack titled, “Paperless Society,” Sept. 2 - 28 at the library’s @Central Gallery, 1221 N. Central Ave.
A free artist reception will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. The reception is part of Artlink First Friday, a free self-guided tour of downtown Phoenix galleries and art spaces. Refreshments will be served.
“Paperless Society” is an installation environment created with large scale paintings. The exhibit invites viewers to experience a familiar place in a different way.
Slack, a self-taught painter and native Phoenician, creates large-scale paintings incorporating pop culture images such as product labels, advertisements and television icons. His work explores the development of human identity through the connections with family, place and consumerism
