Imagine Schools Food Drive
June 2, 2008 by Lyle Plocher commentJune 2 - 3. The Phoenix Mercury and Imagine Schools will be collecting non-perishable food items to benefit Kitchen on the Street on Monday, June 2nd and Tuesday, June 3rd. All donations will be given directly to under-served students in the Valley who often go without dinner on school nights or regular meals on the weekends. Copper Square residents and business owners and employees are invited to drop off items in the US Airways Center Pavilion on Monday, June 2nd and Tuesday, June 3rd between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Students and staff of Imagine Schools will also be in the Casino Arizona Pavilion prior to the game vs. Washington on June 3rd and there will be collection bins at each entrance during the game. Through Kitchen on the Street’s Bags of Hope program, at-risk children in participating schools receive backpacks of food on Fridays for in-home consumption. The bags include meals easily prepared by children such as: pop top-microwavable ravioli, chili or stew, granola bars, cheese and cracker packages, trail mix and other non-perishable food is accepted.
