With the Light Rail due to commence operations within the next 8 months and all of the related, "Transit Oriented Development" that will take place along the light rail line, the intersection of Central & Camelback could see some of the most dramatic changes to the lansdscape. I happened to drive by the intersection today and noticed some of the Public Art that has been installed and then happened to read a lengthy article at azcentral.com about a Project being proposed near the intersection consisting of three 400 foot towers.

A high-rise project at Central & Camelback is long overdue. The neighborhood residents deserve to be heard, but I hope their interests are weighed against the overall good this project would do for the city. Preservation of mountain views and exaggerated traffic concerns, two of the most common reasons given for opposing high-rise projects, should not be sufficient to stand in the way of transit-oriented development.
