Iconic Phoenix nightclub Chez Nous hosts its grand opening at its new location on Grand Avenue on New Year's Eve.

Owner Amina Uben reopened the club "softly" in December, but New Year's Eve will mark the big "come one, come all" party. Entertainment will be provided by Roscoe Taylor's Motown Mania with Wild Bill Webb.

"Those guys have been ringing in the new year for 15 years (at Chez Nous), so they're good at it. It's going to be great," Uben said.

Chez Nous was located at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Indian School Road from 1963 until this fall, when it closed to make way for a new grocery store at the site. The original building was demolished, but Uben salvaged some items and is using them in the new location at 915 Grand Ave., Phoenix.

The smoke-stained, black-and-gold flocked wallpaper has been re-created. Outdoor awnings and signage will look familar, too.

The new location will have valet parking, tuxedoed wait staff and even a "cigarette girl."

An almost strictly volunteer army of regulars has been helping refurbish the new space since the old location closed. The address formerly housed Fat Cats rock and roll bar.
