I was not there last night, but I was told by a reliable source that a 6 story mixed-use Project called Gateway on Grand was unanimously approved by the Phoenix Planning Commission.  I was able to see a Rendering of the Project prepared by CCBG Architects, a downtown Phoenix Firm.  The Proposed Project is pretty impressive.  The property is a triangular shaped, 4 acre lot at 15th Ave & Grand.

Mike Brown, president of Arizona Land Co., purchased the property because he said it was a burned-out eyesore that had great potential for the emerging downtown arts neighborhood.

Brown plans to build Gateway on Grand, a mixed-use project with lofts over storefronts that would cater to the arts community, as well as other residential and commercial needs.
